
Following on from Tom Piatak's interview yesterday, he mentioned that the club were reviewing data in relation to the team's performance. I'd guess that they will be leaning on Statsbomb to create some visuals which represent where we were after 4 games.
NOTE: This data does not include the game from Salford and MK Dons.
NOTE: I would normally do this after 10 games, but extenuating circumstances have prevailed
I've pulled together my own chart which is a good indication of where every club currently sits. You can read more here about underlying metrics and how a weighting of 70% xG and 30% goals is a good representation of how good or bad a team is.
As you can see, we are sitting in and around the 6 worst teams after 4 games with a below-average defence and below-average attack. This is actually a very similar position to where we found ourselves last season in League One, table from February 2024 is below for reference.

You can understand why the owners wanted to act when they did. The investment in January and this summer has been significant and I'm sure we can all agree that the team should have performed better in the opening 4 games.
